The Maison

Our story

Atelier

BellaTomi blends Indian elegance with modern precision. Designed for those who value identity, presence, and legacy.

Born from a quiet conviction — that the objects we carry should outlast the seasons that produced them — BellaTomi exists to make essentials worthy of inheritance. We work with leathers traced to a single tannery, hardware cast in low volumes, and finishes refined over years rather than launches.

The name itself is a duality. Bella — beautiful, in Italian. Tomi — precise, modern, geometric. Together: a brand that lives between heritage and intent.

Our Belief

"Luxury is not declared. It is recognised."

Our Promise

A quiet kind of permanence.

Every BellaTomi object is numbered, signed and intended to age. Our pieces are guaranteed for life and serviced in our atelier — because the objects worth keeping deserve to be kept.

Heritage

2006 — Present

The founding of BellaTomi.

In 2006, two friends — bound by an obsession with material, proportion and the dignity of well-made objects — set out to build a maison that would speak quietly, and last loudly.

What began as a small atelier in India has, over nearly two decades, become a house defined by restraint: limited editions, numbered pieces, and a refusal to confuse newness with worth.

Chapters

A house, written in decades.

  1. 2006

    The first stitch.

Xavier Lazar John and Shelin Chacko Theakumplackal found BellaTomi in a modest atelier — armed with a single conviction: that an object made well, in small numbers, by trained hands, will always outlive an object made fast.

  2. 2009

    The signature is struck.

The BellaTomi monogram is cast in solid brass for the first time and pressed by hand into every piece. The signature has remained unchanged since.

  3. 2013

    Numbered editions.

BellaTomi formalises its principle of scarcity: every piece is numbered, signed and recorded in the maison ledger — a practice borrowed from European watchmaking.

  4. 2018

    The lifetime guarantee.

The atelier introduces lifetime servicing on every object it has ever made — a quiet promise that what BellaTomi sells, BellaTomi keeps alive.

  5. Today

    A maison, still founder-led.

Nearly two decades on, both founders remain at the bench. Every collection still passes their hands before it leaves the atelier.

The Founders

Two hands. One conviction.

Xavier Lazar John — co-founder of BellaTomi

Co-Founder

Xavier Lazar John

The custodian of material. Xavier spent years tracing leathers and metals to single sources before BellaTomi ever shipped a piece — a discipline that still defines every collection.

Shelin Chacko Theakumplackal — co-founder of BellaTomi

Co-Founder

Shelin Chacko Theakumplackal

The custodian of form. Shelin shaped BellaTomi's design language — geometric, restrained, quietly modern — and continues to sign off every silhouette before it enters production.
